ALATAP Welcomes You

America Latina Association of Threat Assessment Professionals is an international organization dedicated to preventing and mitigating targeted violence throughout Latin America by applying best practices in behavioral threat assessment and management.

Our Board Members

Our mission is to foster professional development, education, and research in this critical field while providing a platform for ethical guidelines and continuing education.

Glenn Sandford

President

Mr. Glenn Sandford is board certified in threat management as a Certified Threat Manager (CTM) and board certified in security management, having earned a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) credential. He has over 30 years of experience in investigations, corporate security management, executive protection, security systems administration, law enforcement and guard force management. Mr. Sandford has lived and worked extensively throughout Latin America. He is the primary founding member of the America Latina Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ALATAP) and holds chapter leadership roles in ATAP.

Dr. Reid Meloy

Vice President

Dr. Meloy is a board-certified forensic psychologist who has been a consultant, researcher, and trainer in the threat assessment community for the past thirty years.  He is a former clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego; and a consultant to the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI on counterintelligence, counterterrorism, and criminal cases. He is the co-editor of the International Handbook of Threat Assessment (Oxford University Press).

Alex Jones

Board Member

Mr. Alex Jones is the Global Security Workplace Violence Prevention Program Manager at Cargill, Inc. In this role he leads and supports the development of Cargill’s violence prevention program including training, threat management and collaboration across businesses and functions globally. In addition, Alex is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) and a Certified Threat Manager (CTM). He also holds degrees with a Master of Science in Security Technologies and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice.

Maria Silva

Board Member

Dr. Silva is a bilingual (Spanish/English) licensed psychologist from Miami, Florida. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., majoring in psychology and Spanish, and her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Silva has been employed in outpatient and inpatient settings, ranging from community mental health centers to forensic and psychiatric hospitals. In her various roles, she has conducted psychological, psychoeducational, and forensic assessments, including competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and immigration evaluations, and provided individual, couples, and group therapy, primarily to adolescents and adults. Dr. Silva has also been employed by the Department of Justice, developing policies and programming for vulnerable populations within the federal prison system.

Bruno Dias

Board Member

Dr. Bruno Dias, PhD, CTM, PCI, is a recognized expert and consultant in safety, security, emergency management, and behavioral threat assessment and management (BTAM). With a distinguished background in corporate security, educational safety, leadership, and public safety, Dr. Dias brings practical expertise critical to the education sector, law enforcement, and corporate environments. He has managed corporate security investigations for a Fortune 10 company, led responses to active shooter situations in public and educational settings, and developed local, regional, and national violence prevention policies. He has extensive experience in training, briefing, and consulting both in the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Dias holds a PhD in Psychology, Public Policy, and Law, as well as master’s degrees in security studies and criminal justice. He is a Board-Certified Investigator, Certified Threat Manager, and a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Dr. Dias speaks Portuguese and has traveled extensively throughout Central and South America as well as the Caribbean.

Leonardo Ogihara

Board Member

Mr. Leonardo Ogihara has worked for Accenture for 15 years and is currently serving as the Employee Assistance Officer / BTAM Lead for the Americas, a region with more than 100,000 employees in 8 countries. Leo holds the ATAP CTM, the ASIS International board certifications CPP, PCI and PSP, an MBA, and is a candidate for the MSc in Forensic Psychology with Specialization in Threat Assessment and Management at the National University (USA). Leo also serves as the secretary of the ASIS International Human Threat Management Steering Committee. Leo was born and raised in Brazil and is currently living in New Jersey, USA. He speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.
